He wanted a print to mark 20 years of Witney Music Festival, an open-air event he started in memory of his sister Jo. \u003cbr\u003eThat’s where I started with the image.\u003cbr\u003eA flower growing from a seed. The seed is Jo. The stem pushes up through layered earth, roots underneath, leaves fanning out, the number 20 at the centre. Twenty years of something that grew from grief.\u003cbr\u003eThe visual language comes from 1960s festival and protest poster design, because that era knew how to make things feel alive on paper. Collaged crowd scenes, guitar silhouettes, flat colour, heavy ink, analogue grit. Nothing smooth.\u003cbr\u003eFour colours, hand-pulled, built up layer by layer. If you’ve held a proper screen print you know what 280gsm feels like. The ink sits on the surface. You can see where the squeegee passed.
